LEARN has compiled its own list of recommended resources. An updated list will be posted after the March 17 workshop, “Serving the ESL Patron 101.”
For additional suggestions, visit the American Dream Toolkit.
Some resources for children could also be used for adults learning English. One such online tool is called Tumblebooks. The TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books for children. However, adults might find this easy-to-use resource very helpful for learning English, too. Many libraries offer access to this pay database.
Visit the American Dream Toolkit Web site for recommended ESL titles. Thirty four public libraries from the American Dream Starts @ your library initiative contributed to the comprehensive list of print and digital resources. This annotated list, the first of its kind, is an enormous contribution to the thousands of librarians and educators providing literacy services for adult English language learners.
