Emmett Lombard will be one of the guest speaker’s at the next LEARN meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 1-4 p.m. at Berwyn Public Library.
Emmett Lombard is a Librarian, Webmaster, and English Instructor at Gannon University. He describes his book, Pursuing Information Literacy: Roles and Relationships, in a youtube video.
Reading his book in advance will help us be ready to participate in our dialogue with him about Information Literacy, public librarianship, and serving the ESL patron.
I want to thank everyone who helped make our workshop on March 17 a success. We all enjoyed the presentation by Dale Lipschultz from the American Library Association, and our panel of representatives from the local tutoring groups (Gloria Alicea of School on Wheels, Rick Lockner and Lynn Weissburg of Literacy DuPage, and Maryanna Milton of the People’s Resource Center) was very informative. I also want to thank Yvonne Riley at the Metropolitan Library System for facilitating the event, and the publishers who came to display their materials.
Finally, I would like to thank the LEARN committee who put the workshop together: Esther Chase (Berwyn Library), Tina Viglucci (Aurora Library), Ann Weaver (Westchester Library) and Jean Demas(Lisle Library). It was a pleasure working with you.
