Answers to Questions About the Group
What does LEARN do?
Libraries English and Reading Network is a group of librarians which meets regularly
to discuss developing English as a Second Language collections and providing patrons with
the instruction they need to learn. This involves talking about
which materials patrons use most, how to publicize these materials and where to send people
when they need more help. In addition, LEARN hopes to strengthen ties with tutoring groups
in the area to insure that patrons needs are being met.
Does it cost anything to become a member?
Membership in LEARN is currently free.
I am not a librarian, but I am a tutor. Can I become a LEARN member?
No, however, your organization could become a member. Click here to find out how to join.
How often does the group meet?
The group meets about twice a year but is in constant communication through e-mail.
If I become a member, will I be responsible for doing anything?
We ask that all members try to come to at least one meeting each year.
Where does the group meet?
The meeting rotates among the member libraries to expose members to each library's collection.
Is there a main contact person for the group?
Joe Popowitch at Indian Prairie Public Library is the contact person.
